TIME-your most precious currency

By: Lee Edward

Time is the single most important thing that is common to every living creature. Every living thing has the same time range of twenty-four hours (24 hours) each day. You can’t add to it and you can’t be subtract from it.

This limit in the time of each day demands that you become a master of your time rather than a slave to continuing time pressure. Understanding that time is your most precious resource, and the most the most valuable thing you have. This understanding will help you in the profitable utilization of every second, every minute and every hour of your time each day, which will ultimately determine how far you will go in your journey towards success and prosperity.

THREE CHARACTERISTICS OF TIME
There are three main characteristics of time which we should always have in hearts. These time characteristics will help you to know more about time and to utilize it. They are;

Perishable – time is a perishable thing. It can be lost and gone. There is the need for you to effectively manage your time so you can get the best of it.

Irreplaceable - it can never be replaced once it has been lost and gone. For example September 11, 2001, the day of terrorist attack in the United State, can never be replaced. The damaged goods and properties may be bought back. The properties rebuilt, but the time is gone. There will never will be another September 11, 2001 again. You need to make every second, every minute and every hour count in your life.

Cannot be Saved – time cannot be saved, the same way we save money and other resources for future use. That is beyond the scope of human nature. There is the need for you to plan your time ahead of your goals, dreams and visions. So you can achieve all your life plans in life.

Getting Started
Everything you hope and desire to achieve in life first starts with you and personal time management begins with you.

Time management begins with thinking and planning through your Definite Major Purpose (DMP) in life. A lot of people often say “lack of time”…but the problem is not lack of time but lack of direction in life.

Decisiveness of Goals
When the Texas Billionaire, Bunker Hunt, was asked if he had any piece of advice he could give people on how to succeed, he clearly stated that success is simple. First you must decide what you want clearly and specifically, and then you must make up your mind to pay whatever price (legal), to attain your goal – and then pay that price. If you don’t decide on time to pay the price; chances are that you might never have what you desire because time waits for nobody.

It is the price tag attached to success that scare ordinary people away from success. What is your definite major purpose in life? How do you plan on achieving your purpose? What time frame have you set for yourself towards achieving them? Knowing all these, will help you to best. Plan the utilization of your time, towards these goals.

With the understanding that time is perishable, it is irreplaceable, and it cannot be saved, you should be able to reallocate your time from activities of lower value to activities of higher value. It is a known fact that all work requires time, but there are those that should be given more time then others.
The conscious steps taken to think about your time before you spend it; will help to improve your personal time management. So, take time to think, plan and organize your time around specific things that you desire to accomplish.
